Collaborators in Life and Art

Working together

as artist and artisan

to create beauty and utility

Karen Watson

Artist

I am humbled and inspired by the beauty, power, and mystery of nature, including human nature, in all its cycles. My work strives to be mindful of the moment, appreciative of life and the passing of time. I seek beauty and truth of all sorts, and work at cultivating a life of gratitude and kindness.

My body of work includes fine art photography, collage, mixed media, drawing, and writing, particularly haiku, which I pair with my photography.

Peter Holton

Woodworker

I work with wood to make useful things in ways intended to reveal the qualities inherent in the materials.

There is often beauty hidden in old wood under the grime and detritus from years of neglect. Each of my projects begins with a need or a vision. Parts and shapes appear out of collected materials. Nothing I assemble is perfect or precious but instead meant to be used and enjoyed.

BIO

Peter was educated as a physicist and had a long career working in Nuclear Medicine, specifically involved in high energy accelerators and the production of radioactive tracers used in the diagnosis and treatment of human disease.

During his childhood and during several diversions from his professional career, Peter took time to “go back to the land” where he raised crops and dairy goats, built and restored timber framed homes, designed and built furniture, and performed music.

Peter works in his home shop in Rockport.
