Gate-leg Drop-leaf Walnut Table
In the swap-shop at our transfer station Peter found a heap of dark wood wrapped in a red packing strap. From the heap a single Queen Anne leg stood up next to a long curved edge. This was potentially an early antique walnut table. The other three legs were in the heap. All had shattered joints.
Peter brought the table home thinking of repurposing the hardwood top, but on disassembly and close examination, he chose instead to ‘resurrect’ the table. It was too damaged by prior repairs and breakage to restore, but with new spliced in wood, it is made whole. Though no longer an unspoiled antique, it can actually be used!
